Dimensions - Demo 2

Generalized Dimensions

The information dimension D1 is calculated in this applet. Again accumulate a large number of points. The dimension algorithm calculates the measure pi associated with each non-empty box i and then sums -pilog pi over i.

Other dimensions Dq can be calculated by changing the value of q and then rehitting "Dimension" (you do not need to rerun the map iteration).

Things to try

  1. How does the dimension Dq vary with q?
  2. How does the quality of the fit for a given number of points change with q?
